NRA Basics of Pistol Course - Instructor Led

Regardless of shooting experience this course will give individuals the skills necessary for the safe handling of pistols. This course is designed to give the individual the confidence, understanding and discipline for safe pistol handling and accurate shooting. This is an eight-hour block of instruction involving six hours of classroom instruction and two hours of practical training at a shooting range. By the end of this course individuals will have a better understanding of how pistols function, the various parts and how to safely handle, store, and maintain personal firearms.
Students should dress for the weather. The range is outdoors and hot or cold we will be shooting. Range time will be rescheduled due to rain or snow, but the classroom portion will continue. In the event of sever thunderstorms classes will be rescheduled.

The Range/Course of Fire:
20 rounds at 10 feet
20 rounds at 15 feet
20 rounds at 20 feet
20 rounds at 45 feet at a nine-inch target.
Students must qualify with the first target and pass the test in order to receive the training certificate.
Students should bring the following items with them:
Pistol, comfortable for them to shoot.
Correct, store bought ammunition. Reloaded ammunition will not be permitted for safety reasons.
Ear protection. We recommend electronic hearing protection, but in ear hearing protection will be sufficient.
Eye protection. Eye protection must be Z87 OSHA rated at a minimum. Students who require prescription seeing glasses will be permitted to use those glasses as eye protection.
Snacks and drinks. It is a long day of valuable information and you will more than likely get a little hungry or thirsty throughout. Eating and drinking during any portion of the course is welcomed.
